Komphela: Success is imminent

Bafana Bafana’s interim boss Steve Komphela says a coach could be successful in this position once he understands that it is a position that belongs to the entire nation, rather than an individual.

Komphela made this interesting observation on Tuesday when he was officially handed over the reins, albeit on an interim basis, following the sacking of Pitso Mosimane.

“I will try as much as possible to remain what you want us to be and work for this nation. And I’m sure by so doing success is imminent,” says the former Bafana Bafana captain.

“The only thing that one needs to be careful about in this position is; it is not yours. This is a public position and you were just given the unique honour and privilege to be the face,” he states.

Komphela’s first match in charge will be the World Cup 2014 qualifier against Botswana on Saturday in Gaborone and he is confident Bafana can live up to expectations.

“We are fully aware of the challenge and I’m sure we could be equal to the task in terms of overcoming the challenge. We will be ready come Saturday,” Komphela adds.
