Even though Pitso Mosimane has agreed to part ways with Bafana Bafana, Safa will still have to cough up a huge amount to buy him out of his contract.
Safa fired Mosimane last night, following a string of poor performance with Bafana, and KickOff.com has been reliably informed by a Safa officialthat Mosimane is still negotiating the buy-out clause on his contract.
According to the information gathered by this publication, Mosimane is demanding R10-million from Safa.
Mosimane had another two years left on his contract, and was rumoured to earn about R800 000 to R1-million a month, meaning the amount could be as high as R20-million – although Safa are unlikely to agree on such a sum.
“The issue of Safa and Pitso Mosimane is not yet over,” our source at Safa says. “They are still negotiating the buy-out of his contract and the coach wants nothing less than R10-million to walk out of his contract with Safa.”
Meanwhile, Safa has appointed Steve Komphela as interim coach for the matches against Botswana and Gabon.
